A frustrated Agent Doggett tries to find Mulder so he can proceed with is investigation against Deputy Director Kersh, but Scully and Skinner finally convince him to drop his case. Yet even as Scully help Agent Doggett and Agent Reyes on some of their cases, she realizes William is sill in danger. When she learns a religious want her son dead, she turns to the Lone Gunmen. Bue even they cannot prevent William from being Kidnapped, a fact which forces Scully to make a painful decision. In her darkest hour, she recieves word that Mulder has been found - and is being held in a military brig for the murder of a main who cannot die.; ; AUX FRONTIÈRES DU RÉEL: SAISON NEUF: Conscient que sa seule présence met en péril Scully et William, Mulder disparaît à nouveau, mais cette fois de son propre gré. Drustré, l'agent Doggett tente de trouver Mulder afin de poursuivre son enquête contre le directeur adjoint Kersh, mais Scully et Skinner réussissent à le convaincre de laisser tomber. Alors qu'elle assiste les agents Doggett et Reyes dans certaines de leurs affaires, Scully réalise que William est toujours en danger. Quand elle apprend qu'un culte religieux désire la mort de son fils, elle se tourn evers les Bandits solitaires. Mais même ceux-ci ne peuvent pas empêcher l'enlèvement de william, ce qui oblige Scully à prendre une décision déchirante. Dans un grand moment de désespoir, elle apprend qu'on a retrouvé Mulder... et qu'il est détenu dans une prison militaire pour le meurtre d'un homme qui ne peut pas mourir.
