Since no one seems to care about Jesse, he has not learned how to care for others, and to his friends he seems selfish. When a training mission takes the colonel away on Christmas Eve, the boy is sent to stay with his friend and cousin, Gabriella, who reminds Jesse he must think of others, too. She cheers him up with a trip to Toyland, 'where all your wishes come true' - which turns out to be more than just a figure of speech, as the toys come to life and lend a hand. Jesse learns the power of caring from his new friends, and then faces a real challenge: to lead them in a heroic rescue attempt, after his father's plane has crashed in the mountains.
