• Plot: When Jonas Ambler, American business boy wonder, throws a benefit affair for Iraqi dissident author Mohammed Majdi on Ambler's yacht, the party is attacked by a group of Commando terrorists, led by Colonel Vasili Borfchenko. Majdi is slaughtered, Ambler wounded and his wife Jennifer, mercilessly executed. Bent on revenge, Ambler turns for help to Alex Hawks, former commander of NATO's Special Operations Team - Code Name Saber. Even though his old nemesis Phoenix is the one responsible for the terrorist attack, Hawks turns down Ambler's offer. Not to be dissuaded, Ambler entraps Hawks and blackmails him into taking the Contract. Hawks summons his former team who join him on the Turkish border and prepare to assault Phoenix in his Iraqi lair. Unknown to Hawks, there is a traitor in his group and the team is led into an ambush and captured. The group manage to escape and during a fierce firefight Phoenix is killed. Back in Turkey, the turncoat comes forward and demands Hawks kill Ambler, or a member of his team will be executed. Hawks must make a life or death decision. What happens next makes 'Mercenary' an exciting, explosive, suspense thriller of high-tech warfare, double agents, counter-plots and non-stop action.
