• Plot: in 1966, CBC Television invited some of North America's greates blues performers to gather in a studio in Toronto. The artists were recorded together and individually in sessions that lasted three days. The result was originally televised as part of the CBC 'Festival' series.; ; Most of these artists are gone now, but 30 years later, the session video tapes have been found, restored and re-edited. BLUES MASTERS stars the great Muddy Waters and his band, seen performing 'You Can't Lose What You Never Had' and 'Got My Mojo Workin'', the latter featuring the dean of Chicago-blues harmonica, James Cotton.; ; The show includes one of the blues' longest-lasting and most popular duos, Sonny Terry and Brownie McGhee, as well as the last of the original delta blues piano players, Sunnyland Slim. Legendary blues bassist and composer Willie Dixon goes solo on 'Bassology' and, with the help of a little '90s technology, shares the stage with Colin James to perform 'Crazy For My Baby'.; ; BLUES MASTERS also offers a rare performance of 'How Long This Train Been Gone' by Mable Hillery in her only television appearance,; ; The host, Canadian blues star Colin James, takes us on a personally guided tour of these classic performances, introducing a whole new generation to this inspiring, soulful music.
